I had been a Christian about 6 months in 2009.  I was on fire for the Lord and could not wait to spend the rest of my life serving and following Christ. God had begun the process of restoration in my life and I was feeling the urging of the Holy Spirit to enter into the calling of full-time ministry. After many hours of prayer, long conversations with my wife and examining the process of becoming ordained; I was ready to tell my pastor that I felt like God was calling me into service and full-time ministry. Focus: Outward

One of the purposes of the church is to reach those who are currently a part of the church. This was a lesson I learned that changed my life forever. Early on in pastoral ministry, I assumed my job was two-fold. First it was to preach good sermons. I would spend hours upon hours writing these great sermons each and every week. The second part of my job was to take care of the flock. My job was to nurture and care for those who attended my church. However, the more I did these things, the more I felt like something was missing.
