Sr. Adult Ministry
It's all about finishing strong, isn't it? At Gateway, our Senior Adults are determined to not only leave a Godly legacy, but to keep on keepin' on to grow, learn, and serve. J.O.Y ministry plays an integral part in all aspects of life at Gateway. They help by serving in the nursery, preparing meals for the home-bound, volunteering in the church office, helping maintain the grounds, and so much more. We have retired pastors who serve in teaching roles, and partner with the Youth and Children's departments in many ways.
Fellowship is alive and well as the J.O.Y. council sponsors trips, hymn sings, potlucks, game nights, and other events such as STORM baseball games.
As Pastor Roger always says, "Seniors are Just Older Youth."
What are we afraid of?
Caricatures of aging are often portrayed by physical and mental ravages, real or imagined problems of decline and atrophy, and mental pictures of earlier generations that blind us to the enrichment and possibilities of the 60s, 70s, 80s. Why fear? Why do we feel the need to distance ourselves from aging?
