GatewayNaz Ministries

The mission of the Church of the Nazarene is to make Christlike disciples in the nations.

Gateway is a Great Commission church (Matthew 28:19-20). As part of a global community of faith, we are commissioned to take the Good News of life in Jesus Christ to people everywhere and to spread the message of scriptural holiness (Christlike living) across the lands. This page outlines our ministries designed to fulfil that commision.

Nazarenes are a sent people—into homes, workplaces, communities, and villages as well as other cities and countries. Missionaries are now sent from all regions of the world. God continues calling ordinary people to do extraordinary things made possible by the person of the Holy Spirit.

Sunday School and Discipleship Ministry International (SDMI) oversees all of the teaching and discipleship ministry efforts of the Nazarene Church. The SDMI committee is comprised of both elected and appointed ministry leaders and meets once a month to review and plan for the educational needs of Gateway.

Elected SDMI Board: Jasmine Barley, Joyce Dail, Donna Ellis, Jeanne Ostrand, Dot Manker, Kay Riscol, Veronica Tucker,

Find your place to connect. Find your place to serve.

Welcome to Gateway Kidz Ministry where we are committed to seeing children connected to and come to personally KNOW who God is as their Lord and Savior, connect and see them GROW in who He is and whose they are in Him, and SHARE about Him with those who do not know Him. We hope to see you soon, and can't wait to begin the journey together!

Welcome to Gateway Kidz Early Childhood Ministries where we believe that children are never too young to learn about Jesus. From the time they first come to the nursery and all the way to their pre-K days we structure and prepare for each developmental stage in age appropriate ways.

NURSERY – (6 Weeks – 3YO)

Every Sunday during each service our nursery is available for children 0-3 years old. You can expect to find nursery staff and caregivers who love your children and point them to Jesus through song, reading, and play-based learning from these early days and years of their little lives.

We recognize that children at this age and stage are getting a little more independent and offer activities that are structured and filled with lots of crafts, centers, singing, and Bible stories all the while molding, shaping, and nurturing their understanding of who God is.
(We do ask that children in this class be fully potty-trained)

Gateway Kidz Elementary Ministries believes that parents are the primary spiritual leaders of their children, and we seek to partner together with you and come alongside you as you point your children towards a God who loves them and created them in His image and guide them to respond to His love for them.

Children in kindergarten through 5th grade will experience learning about God and worshiping Him through various opportunities that help them know that God is real and they can trust Him and look to Him.

At Gateway we take the safety of children seriously and you can expect to find:

  • Safe and Secure Check-In

  • Screened Staff and Volunteers

  • Emergency Procedures

  • A Clean and Healthy Environment

Gateway Children's Ministries offer special events for children throughout the year. Check the website calendar for details.

The teen years have been described in many ways, and are often thought of as turbulent times. At Gateway you can find support, friendship, guidance, and a place to belong. Pastor Wally and his team of volunteers are passionate about creating a comfortable space and crafting activities that are inspirational and fun. Did we mention that there could be trips to Disneyland? Stop by on Sunday mornings or Wednesday evenings and check out all that Gateway's Youth ministry has to offer.

Sr. Adult Ministry

It's all about finishing strong, isn't it? At Gateway, our Senior Adults are determined to not only leave a Godly legacy, but to keep on keepin' on to grow, learn, and serve. J.O.Y ministry plays an integral part in all aspects of life at Gateway.  They help by serving in the nursery, preparing meals for the home-bound, volunteering in the church office, helping maintain the grounds, and so much more.  We have retired pastors who serve in teaching roles, and partner with the Youth and Children's departments in many ways.

Fellowship is alive and well as the J.O.Y. council sponsors trips, hymn sings, potlucks, game nights, and other events such as STORM baseball games.

As Pastor Roger always says, "Seniors are Just Older Youth.

What are we afraid of?

Caricatures of aging are often portrayed by physical and mental ravages, real or imagined problems of decline and atrophy, and mental pictures of earlier generations that blind us to the enrichment and possibilities of the 60s, 70s, 80s. Why fear? Why do we feel the need to distance ourselves from aging?

Gateway's Worship Ministry

gateway worship.jpg

God is moving by His Spirit!  Each week when we worship together we pray that the Holy Spirit will fill us in a fresh new way, and speak to us both corporately and individually.  We believe that it's in His presence we find fullness of joy and the strength to be more like Jesus every day.

Worship is when we gather as believers to focus our attention on our personal relationship with our Creator. Music is a very important component of worship at Gateway.  Our Worship leaders, Rick and Sara, are committed to bringing a quality worship experience every week.

Auditions are ongoing for those who wish to participate on the Sunday morning Praise Teams.  Whether you play an instrument or lift your voice in praise, you are welcome to minister in this way. Our biggest need is musicians.  Drummers, guitarists, and bass players. See Sara or Rick to schedule an audition.
Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings at 6:30, and run for about two hours.

Another exciting way to serve in music ministry is to join the Gateway Choir.  The choir performs throughout the year on Easter, 4th of July, and other times sprinkled in.

Finally, our Drama Team collaborates with the Gateway Choir on seasonal celebrations which include skits, plays, and full-scale musical productions.

GatewayNaz Family LIfe Ministry

Family Life Ministry meets the needs of our church congregants through prayer, meals, social events, and visitation.  Wedding and baby showers, memorial service dinners, and meals for shut-ins are some of the ways Gateway’s members benefit from the hard work of this ministry.

This ministry’s key verse is Galatians 6:2: Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will obey the law of Christ.

Pray daily

kids praying.png

God desires to be in relationship with us. One way He reaches out to us is through our prayer life. Make it a priority to pray every day. Be still, listen, bring Him your petitions, thank Him for his goodness.

Pray alone

"But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."   Matthew 6:6 (New International Translation)

Pray together

"For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them." Matthew 18:20 (New Living Translation)

Pray continually

"Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live."  Thessalonians 5:16  (The Message Bible)

In 2017 we helped relaunch the work at 29 Palms and successfully started our Hispanic Ministry. Both of these new works are thriving and meeting the needs of their unique congregations. We are excited about reaching out to the Filipino community of the Temecula Valley.
